1. Which Operating Systems do you support?

This component supports all Microsoft Operating Systems which supports ActiveX/COM technology. Many others programming languages also supports COM technology. You can get the free sample codes from the documentation for ASP/VBScript, Visual Basic, Visual C++, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, ColdFusion Delphi and Perl.

2. What do I get when I purchase IP2Location ActiveX/COM Component?

You will receive a registrion code which unlock the 5-second delay in the component. You will also receive a download account to access to the latest IP2Location Binary database for monthly update for AX2 to AX14.

3. How is IP2Location ActiveX Component licensed?

Upon purchase, you will receive a registration code which will allow you to register component and access to the database updates for a period of one year. You are allowed the use the ActiveX component and database in one physical machine (regardless of number of CPU or Core) for each license. Multiple licenses are required if you distribute or install the software in more than one machine. If you are using this component for Server application, one license is required per Server installation regardless of number of domain.

4. Can I resell or redistribute your database in our client application?

You can resell our product provided there are separate licenses for each client, A single license cannot be sold to multiple parties.

5. How can I upgrade from one data package to another?

If you are upgrading within a year of original purchase, then you will only need to pay for the difference in price.
Step 1. Login to IP2Location.
Step 2. Select the license you wish to upgrade.
Step 3. Click upgrade button.
Step 4. Select the product you wish to upgrade to.
Step 5. Click upgrade button.
Step 6. Fill in all the required field.
Step 7. Click Submit button.

6. Do I need to install or import your data into my database server?

There is no need for any importing of data to your database, or executing of sql scripts. All our data is stored in a single data file. Data administration is as simple as downloading the data package and putting it on the server.

7. Why are database updates needed periodically?

Ownership of IP address blocks change hands occasionally. Updating the database ensures the database is as accurate as possible.

8. What is the level of accuracy?

The database has over 99% accuracy at the country and ISP level. 75% at the region level and 70% at the city level. Levels of inaccuracy are due to the flexibility given to each ISP to re-assign dynamic IP addresses within their service area.

9. Does it work for AOL visitors?

Because AOL uses a network that routes all of the company's Internet traffic through Reston, Virginia. All IP-based location services, including IP2Location are unable to determine the state and city for people who dial into the AOL network.
